DIY Free Standing Floral Arrangement Tutorial

Materials Needed

  • Sola flowers
  • Greenery
  • Wire stems
  • Cover Stems
  • Hot Glue Pot or Glue Gun
  • Scissors or wire cutters
  • Foam
  • Rectangle cardboard (black)

 

Step One

1. Hot Glue Gun:

  • Insert a glue stick into the gun.
  • Plug in and turn on the glue gun.
  • Wait until the gun heats up and is ready to use.

 

Step Two

2. Get Your Flowers and base Ready

  • Arrange your flowers and base you will need for your free standing product.

 

Step Three

3. Add Your Greenery

  • Separate your baby’s breath and preserved eucalyptus into smaller pieces.
  • This will make it easier to tuck them into your arrangement later.

 

Step Four

4. Create the Base

  • Add a layer of hot glue to the black rectangle cardboard, then press it firmly onto the foam to secure it.

Step 5: Cut the Foam to Size

  • Use scissors or a knife to carefully trim the foam so it matches the size of your cardboard base.

6. Prepare the Flowers

  • Attach wire stems to your sola wood flowers.
  • Add a dab of hot glue to the end of each wire, then insert it into the bottom of the flower for a strong hold.

7. Vary the Stem Lengths

  • Cut your wire stems into different sizes.

  • Wrap the wire stem with cover stem to give a neat, natural finish.

9. Arrange the Flowers & Greenery

  • Begin inserting your wired flowers into the foam, starting with the larger blooms in the center.
  • Add your greenery in between the flowers to fill in gaps and create a balanced, full look.

 

Step Ten

10. Final Touches

  • Step back and check your arrangement from all angles.
  • Adjust the flowers and greenery until you’re happy with the shape and fullness.
